IT Architect in San Francisco

Key Responsibilities:

• Influence Business and IT leaders across the entire Organization by providing thought leadership
• Adopt a leadership position within the company, taking responsibility for managing internal customer relationships
• Influence, guide and mentor Architects across the entire Organization.
• Actively participate in the development of Applications Architecture as a key foundation of IT within the organization.
• Partners with Business and IT departments to develop/maintain the Business and IT strategy and roadmaps
• Actively create and manage the Technology strategy within the organization, exploring, accessing and piloting new technologies and frameworks so that, where applicable, processes and deliveries to meet business objectives are optimized
• Participate in the development of additional engagements and broaden IT Applications Architecture engagements across the enterprise.
• Actively support Enterprise Architecture discipline as a key discipline within the organization.
• Participate in the development and execution of IT governance process.
• Drive the technical strategy and lead team(s) in meeting the strategic objectives.
• Coaches, mentors, and delegates to Technical leads to facilitate their development. Foster high performing technical teams.
• Identify and recruit technical leaders into the organization
• Designs complex systems at the component level, makes strategic technology choices, and directly supervises the quality of designs and implementation inside and between components.
• Influence development managers and IT Operations and Delivery Directors to insure appropriate levels of quality on owned architecture(s).
• Collaborates effectively with peer architects and chief architects to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas and resolves technological disagreement with informed, rational debate.
• Arbitrates disagreements among projects teams, peers and IT directors; make or facilitate decisions where needed without damaging relationships.
• Translate the draft design into a Technical design document gaining consensus on the components of the solution from SME’s, Project Manager and peer Architects.
• Develop Architecture documents / artifacts from templates working with extended IT and Business teams.
• Identify architectural risks and plans to mitigations risks, adherence to standards and best practices.
• Experience estimating capital, schedule and human resource costs of proposed objectives. Compares, contrasts, and prioritizes among alternative approaches to meet those objectives while assessing risk both quantitatively and qualitatively.
• Perform application assessments partnering with vendors, project team members and key subject matter experts.
• Develop solution architectures, technical architectures and system landscapes partnering with vendors, project team members and key subject matter experts
• Develop joint recommendations on key architecture/technical decisions by partnering with vendors, project team members and key subject matter experts.
• Focuses on how to leverage technologies to improve applications selection and utilization efficiencies.
• Partners with other IT organizations to develop/maintain the Business and IT strategy and roadmap.
• Provides expertise in technical design, development and architecture, design patterns, standards and best practices.
• Assists in specific application development projects.
• Researches and introduces best practices frameworks/capability models tailored for the environment that will control costs, provide higher quality and/or increase predictability of service delivery.
• Works with projects across the enterprise to identify technical architecture development and deployment problems and improvement opportunities.
• Crafts solutions that effectively resolve problems or provide improvement.
• IT subject matter expert for application technologies including partnering on application/database high availability solutions.
• Conducts regular, ongoing in Technology areas to keep abreast and be informed of important changes within the Technology spectrum. Holds regular meetings on tools and technologies, involving appropriate IT members to disseminate and share knowledge, issues and concerns, propose solutions, and suggest standards and frameworks that will enhance development efforts.
• Works to find solutions to issues identified during cross-project meetings.
• Develops and disseminates standards and best-practices documentation which reflect techniques that work best within the environment and are based on industry sources and IT experiences Develop and review business cases targeting IT executives.
• Develop and review research findings (PowerPoint), architectural diagrams (Visio) and supporting details in (Excel)
• Develop and review technical statements of work. Develop and review key presentations targeting all levels of staff (e.g. IT executives, business/technology managers, developers, system administrators, etc).
• Communicates plans, status and issues on all engagements to management on a regular basis.
• Influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management.
• Comfortably moves between highly varying levels of abstraction from business strategy to product strategy to high level technical design to detailed technical design to implementation.
• Clearly documents and communicates objectives, requirements, and designs at these different levels of abstraction to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• May lead projects and coordinate activities of other team members
